Invisalign® clear braces are the non-metal alternatives to traditional braces that utilize a series of custom-made clear, removable aligners to straighten your teeth without the discomfort of metal wires or brackets. Like traditional braces, the Invisalign® system can handle crooked, overlapping or crowded teeth, wide spaces, over-bite, under-bite, and cross-bite. Unlike traditional braces, they are transparent and can be removed for brushing, flossing, eating, or even taking a break to attend a special occasion. Invisalign® uses 3-D computer imaging technology to design the complete treatment plan, from the initial teeth positioning to the desired final positioning. This 3-D imaging allows you to preview the final positioning of your teeth before you start treatment. Custom-made aligners are created based on the imaging information. Each of these aligners, designed to incrementally move the teeth, is worn for two weeks, after which it is replaced by a new set, guiding your teeth to move towards their ideal position. Since aligners are upgraded every two weeks, the process is comfortable, gradual and painless. Although the aligners are designed to be replaced every two weeks, you will typically only need a check-up at our office every six weeks. The total treatment time for cases typically varies from six to eighteen months, depending on the complexity of the individual case.
Once completed, most Invisalign® cases deliver very stable results. Any minor corrections can be addressed by a special program called Invisalign Express® that requires a maximum of ten aligner sets and an average timeframe of 3 months, plus any required time for a retainer program. This special technique is also applicable to rebound cases, for people who have had braces in the past, but had experienced a relapse.
