Shine Bright – Teeth Whitening Solutions

A bright and beautiful smile can significantly enhance your confidence and self-esteem, giving you an extra boost in both personal and professional settings. However, over time, teeth can lose their natural whiteness, becoming stained or dull due to various factors like coffee, tea, wine, berries, smoking, medications, excessive fluoride, and the natural aging process. Fortunately, teeth whitening offers an effective way to brighten your smile, rejuvenate your appearance, and boost your overall confidence.

Teeth whitening is a safe and long-lasting solution for individuals struggling with yellowed or discolored teeth. We offer two primary whitening options, each designed to deliver outstanding results: custom-fitted home whitening trays or professional in-office whitening treatments. Both methods cater to different needs, with unique advantages to help you achieve the smile you've always wanted.

At-home tray whitening is a professional whitening solution that uses custom-made trays and whitening gel available only through your dentist. To use this system, you place a small amount of whitening gel into the custom-fitted trays and wear them for about an hour a day. At The Art of Smile Dental, we offer various strengths of at-home whitening kits, with the time required to achieve your desired shade ranging from a few days to several weeks, depending on the kit you choose.

For a faster whitening solution, we offer in-office whitening treatments using either the Zoom Whitening or KöR Whitening Deep Bleaching system. Both of these systems use a safe and effective bleaching process that lightens discolored enamel, brightening your smile in just one visit. In-office whitening can lighten your teeth up to 10 shades in a single session, making it an excellent option for those with busy schedules or anyone preparing for an important event or celebration.

In-office whitening treatments are highly effective, fast, and long-lasting. The results can last for many years, as long as you maintain proper dental hygiene and schedule regular professional cleanings. We are happy to explain the differences between the Zoom and KöR whitening systems and help you choose the option best suited for your needs.

It’s important to note that while teeth whitening can lighten the natural enamel and dentin of your teeth, it does not affect crowns, bridges, or other artificial surfaces. If you're considering other cosmetic enhancements like crowns, porcelain veneers, or replacing discolored fillings, it may be a good idea to whiten your teeth first so that your restorations can be matched to the newly brightened shade of your teeth for a seamless, aesthetically pleasing result.

Common Reasons for Teeth Whitening

  • Fluorosis: Discoloration caused by excessive fluoride exposure during tooth development.
  • Enamel Wear: The natural wearing down of the outer layer of your teeth over time.
  • Medication Stains: Tooth discoloration due to certain medications like tetracycline.
  • Yellow or Brown Stains: General staining that causes teeth to appear yellow or brown.

What Does Teeth Whitening Involve?

Teeth whitening typically requires two visits to achieve the desired results. During the first appointment, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth to create custom-fitted, clear plastic trays.

At the second appointment, the trays will be tried on for proper fit, with adjustments made if needed. The trays are then used with a special whitening solution, which you will wear either twice a day for 30 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks, depending on the severity of staining and your desired whitening results. Some tooth sensitivity is common during the whitening process, but it should subside after you stop using the whitening solution.

Your dentist will provide you with care instructions for both your teeth and trays, and advise regular check-ups to maintain a bright, healthy smile.
